Romans 5:8 “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Daring rescues saturate our modern culture. From the $250 million adventures by masked men and women that clutter our silver screens, all the way down to children playing pretend heroics on backyard jungle gyms, kids innately know there’s a desperate need for people to be rescued. While these stories and games invariably center around the physical rescue of a damsel in distress or a victim trapped in a burning building, they actually point to a deeper spiritual truth about every human being’s soul. All of us are helpless and need a Savior to rescue us from a certain, eternal doom. (Romans 3:19-20)
Our insurmountable troubles began in the Garden, when Adam and Eve bit into the lie that they didn’t need God. (Genesis 3:5-7) That first act of rebellion reverberated throughout human history and into our own hearts today, putting each of us into the center of danger without even a glimmer of hope for escape. (Ephesians 2:1-2) Thankfully, God executed the perfect rescue plan for all of humanity through the redemptive work of His Son, Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:8)
Student Life For Kids Camp 2018 will explore our universal need for spiritual “rescue.” (Romans 3:23) Kids will discover that Jesus offers our only rescue from becoming separated from God (Romans 6:23) and that everyone who accepts His rescue will be changed into a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Finally, kids will return home with a clear understanding that once they find rescue in Jesus, they should begin telling others about God’s rescue plan. (Matthew 28:19-20)
